Okay... talk about your long-term plan. Utango is a new loyalty program. Loyalty to your spouse. Not kidding. Here's the description of their program:
uTANGO is the first of its kind Life-Stage Rewards Program for Singles, Engaged and Married couples (married less than 3 years) that recognizes the true value of a customer for life by rewarding long-term personal and consumer loyalty. Members can earn Annual Cash Rewards up to $200 a year and extraordinary Life-Stage Cash Rewards up to $10,000 at 10 years, $100,000 at 20 years and $1 Million at 30 years in return for your long-term loyalty.
Users log in and purchase from more than 250 retailers and earn points for each purchase. Those points are redeemable for rewards and life-stage cash rewards at 10, 20, and 30 year milestones. If you're single you can begin earning but not redeem for the good stuff until you get married.
Now, with divorce rates in excess of 50%, I can see the financial benefits of this program. You can promise big rewards because the number of members who will fall out of the program after participating will be huge - either from divorce, death or apathy (whoa - how about a trifecta.)
No one will bet against their marriage so they will enroll. I can just hear the conversation.
"Honey, let's enroll in uTango - we can get all kinds of rewards. We just have to stay married."
"I don't think we should. You got to stay married, like, 10 years before you get anything big. No one's going to get that. Why'd ya throw your engagement ring? Where are ya going? Hey, that's my car!"
But more importantly, I'm jealous I didn't think of it.
